Editor's note

This acquisition signals a strategic consolidation in U.S. chemical logistics, directly impacting buyers of sulfuric and hydrochloric acid. The expanded ISO container depots and fleet may enhance supply-chain flexibility, but integration risks and potential service disruptions warrant close monitoring. Regulatory compliance across new terminals remains a key question for shippers.

Kenan Advantage Group (KAG) has acquired MC Tank Transport, a U.S.-based specialist in bulk liquid chemical transportation, adding ISO container depots and over 240 employees. The deal expands KAG's fleet and terminal network in the Southeast and Midwest, enhancing services for importers and distributors of sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and other specialty chemicals.

Acquisition details

KAG announced the acquisition of MC Tank Transport, a diversified carrier focused on bulk liquid chemicals in tankers and ISO containers. MC Tank operates from eight terminals and three ISO container depots across the U.S. Southeast and Midwest, handling sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and other specialty chemicals. The transaction adds approximately 175 professional drivers and 70 operational and administrative staff to KAG's team.

What buyers should watch

Chemical importers and distributors relying on bulk liquid logistics in the U.S. Southeast and Midwest should monitor KAG's expanded terminal and depot network. The enhanced ISO container services—including storage and washing—may improve supply-chain flexibility for specialty chemicals. The integration of MC Tank's workforce and assets could lead to more reliable transport capacity for sulfuric and hydrochloric acid shipments.
