Irish-owned Chemical Solutions Group (CSG) has acquired Northants-based chemical distributor Resource Chemicals, strengthening its UK presence in industrial, water, and environmental markets. The deal aligns with CSG's strategy to build a robust UK platform through targeted investments, enhancing supply resilience and technical capability for overseas buyers sourcing chemicals in the region.
Acquisition details
CSG, parent company of Chemifloc, GI Chemicals Ireland, GI Chemical Solutions UK, and Chemilab, acquired Resource Chemicals, a specialist in chemical distribution for water, environment, and hygiene sectors. All Resource employees, including senior management, will remain with the business. The transaction was advised by Pegasus Capital (lead advisor for CSG), PWC (financial and tax support), and Pinsent Masons LLP (legal counsel). Resource was advised by IBI Corporate Finance, with PWC and A&L Goodbody providing support.
Strategic context
This acquisition follows CSG's 2025 launch of a bulk caustic distribution hub at the Port of Immingham through GI Chemical Solutions. In January 2026, CSG announced plans to acquire Celtic Water Care Solutions Limited, a Cork-based wastewater treatment chemicals specialist. These moves support CSG's long-term growth, bringing annualized group revenue to over €100 million, with a target of exceeding €150 million by 2030.
Buyer relevance
For overseas importers and distributors, this consolidation signals a more capable UK supply chain for essential industrial chemicals, caustic soda, and water treatment solutions. CSG's expanded UK platform may offer improved supply resilience and technical support for customers in water, environment, and hygiene markets. The combined entity now employs 100 people and serves both Ireland and the UK.
Management commentary
Kevin Quinn, CEO of CSG, stated: "In 2025 we launched a distribution hub in the UK specialising in bulk chemicals, namely caustic, through our GI Chemicals brand. This was always a first step, and our long-term ambition is to build a meaningful presence in the UK and to continue to expand across Ireland, offering customers a full suite of services and products." Nicola Bradley, managing director of Resource Chemicals, added: "Becoming part of the Group gives us the scale and support to grow the business further, while maintaining the relationships and standards that our customers rely on."
